Vietnam?

About 3000 workers from a Taiwan shoe factory in Vietnam have gone on strike demanding higher wages to cope with inflation.

This shoe factory is located in the southern province of Longan, shoe factory female manager said yesterday: "we have about 3000 workers, all strike.

We ask for a pay increase of about 10%. "

She revealed that the strike action began last Friday night and did not end until yesterday.

She hoped that the workers would end the strike tonight after the talks.

"We may have to raise wages to workers, but we do not think this is a good way to solve the problem," she said.

She said that the fund had promised workers two months ago to raise wages.

At the beginning of this month, a factory that made Nike Ju (Nike) sports shoes in Longan province also took place, and more than 15 thousand workers went on strike and demanded a raise.

Vietnam's price index rose 16% in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period last year, and strike action became more common.
